No, not from Oakland:
http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2012/02/marine-raiders-patches-appear-at-remote-outposts-022212/ I always thought MARSOC should have called their MSOBs Raider Battalions. (saw it in a link in the MARSOC 1911 thread that somehow is turning into a spit fest about who was the bigger asshole in WW2) |

Quoted:
Unauthorized or not, if the US Marine Raiders Assc. handed out those patches to those guys they should wear it with pride. ETA WOODLAND BITCHES! Oh yeah...but not impressed by woodland. I've always believed cammies should be as unique as the service uniform. |

| I like it, and that they didn't go subdued. Why make an article about this though, especially after the whole SS debacle? Drawing more attention to the Corps and unauthorized insignia? No complaints about the patch wearing here, I just think the timing is off a bit. Then again, MCT is not worried about the Corps best interests. Reading the comments below the article is enlightening. They are MARSOC, part of SOCOM, and therefore not entirely subject to the whims of the Corps. What's authorized for their use is by no means authorized for other rank and file Marines, so why even bring that aspect up? Why not just comment on how awesome it is that they are keeping the memory and traditions alive? That is what I would have geared the article towards, not the subtle jab at their ignoring of the regulations. Fuck the media. Keep kicking ass bros! |
