We are looking for a fairly simple and easy-to-use video editing program to whack up stuff we shoot on our digital cameras and phones, for posting on YouTube and other online outlets. We'd like to be able to incorporate still photos with effects, add titles and other animated text, add music or other sound, and other basic production stuff. I'm not trying to make the next Batman movie, so I'd like to be in the few-hundred-dollar range at most. Thanks!

As much as it pains me to admit it, MS Movie Maker is a decent tool and it's a free download for Win7.
My wife put together several still/action/movie sequences with custom titles, menus, captions, transitions and music for both our relationship/marriage and the journey our son has had in the world. |

Yep, for what you're doing it will work fine. ETA: And it's free. Which is awesome. |

You need an NLE now. Sony Vegas sounds right for you. |

That Bohemian Rhapsody thing you posted yesterday was whacked up on Vegas. Tight. Yep, I love NLEs. Use 'em at work a lot. Make my life easy. And yeah, that dude was talented. |
