Didn't the bank laws change recently regarding overdrafts?
I was told by the bank that unless I "opt in" for overdraft, the new law would stop payment out of my account if sufficient funds were not available. Well.....I never "opted in" for overdraft, but my account was overdrawn when an electronic debt came out of the wrong account somehow. The worst part isn't that I got a $35 insufficient funds charge....rather that the bill had already been paid by another account and the one that pulled out of the wrong account was an extra payment that wasn't even required in the first place. |

First problem is that you belong to a bank. Stop it. Go to the phone book and find a credit union then go join. I think you will find that they treat you much better than the bank will treat you. A good community bank will treat you just as well as a credit union, and in most cases will have more products/services available to you, especially technology related. <––––––- Community banker here. Whatever you do, don't bank with any large national banks, like Wells Fargo or Bank of America! |

So Credit Unions don't have overdraft procedures? They do, but I opted out of debit card overdrafts....so when my balance can't cover a purchase, they decline the card. What you WILL find with a credit union is that they don't have retarded ass fucking policies that are designed to nickle and dime your account. Also, if I take my debit card to any credit union in colorado that is part of the credit union group, they can access my account, deposit funds/checks, give me cash, and free atm at any member of the credit union circle. So, you WILL get better terms, you WILL get better service, and you WILL be treated like a valued customer, rather than an account with which to attach every fucking fee known to man. You will also NOT find your local credit union pulling stunts like trying to charge your account to use your fucking debit card (BoA......) You will also not run into those problems like you will at wells fargo/BoA where they throw their damn weight around to intimidate people into submitting even if they are in the right (BoA?) |
