first movie (i think there was more than 1) was a true dog of a film. corny acting, suckass plot.
so the folks behind the film came up with a smart advertising gimmick, especially for the times (anti-war anti establishment, white bread amerika hates its children and the kids are gonna fix all the bad things in amerika). they started with this line 'why wont parents let their kids see billy jack' and similar 'the establishment is oppressing the children who will save the world' bs. and it took off. all the hippies and wannabe hippies and peaceniks, the anti establishment folks sucked it up and spread the word. the movie became a financial success because of this.. i'll never forget. knew this girl in highschool in the early 70s. she thought billy jack was a very important movie because if its 'message'. which was nothing but a bunch of hokum. some of those folks remain brain damaged to this day and support such oddities as obama. |

First "Billy Jack" movie was not called "Billy Jack". . . it was––––-"Born Losers". . .check it out, quite a trip. . . True. When Billy Jack first has a run in with the biker scum, he doesn't use his kung fu on them, he pulls out a gun and shoots them!

Quoted: I thought it was ridiculous. I did kind of like the song. Jane I see the "Valley people" as being analogous to the Leftist/OWS mobs. Envious, greedy and violent, simply wanting to confiscate the treasures the "mountain people" - until they ultimately destroy the "mountain people" (and their treasure) and then finally realize all they had to do was act responsibly and they could share in the treasure too. |

To the extent that I search for deep sociopolitical meaning in forty year old Canadian pop/protest songs, I would agree. At the time, I was thirteen and it was a song on the radio. Jane |

Jane Yeah, they sang it in our church too. |

That was one of my guesses.. there is another one near it too correct? I have only been to lynx once so did not have enough knowledge to call it. |
