$900 a case sounds expensive.

It is, but I had a coupon that knocked it down to $90.

That's what I thought!

I remember getting Wolf 7.62x39mm for $69.00 per case of 1k from Classic Arms, as late as 2005.

I bought my first AR15 (and a case of ammo) from this J&G Sales ad in SGN, circa 1973.

I guess there were no angry people on the internet to tell J&G that magazines weren't called clips back in 1973.

I remember when a case of Wolf was $69 and a case of 5.45x30 was $59.

That is still probably all it costs Colt to make one complete.

I'd be surprised if it cost that much for them to crank one out.

If it was 1970, the M-16 is still $1500 in today's dollars. Take away the artificial scarcity on full autos created by the MG freeze in the '86 FOPA, and that's actually 33% more than the $1000-odd dollars Uncle Sam pays for an M4, or we pay for whatever semi-auto Colt 69XX model on a good day.

So in reality, bitching about the FOPA freeze is probably all that's warranted. Prices have stayed kind of flat, adjusted for inflation.

Hope it helps take the sting away a bit.

I think this thread needs a reminder that in 2004 used, possibly POS 30 rd AR mags were around $30  and hi cap Glock mags were approaching $100.  We are living the good old days now, at least where high quality, high capacity mags are concerned. I think I will buy some more.  Also, ammo prices suck!
