The wife is afflicted with a bad back, and mine isn't in any sort of good shape. We've seen ads for that Teeter Inversion Table, and have given thought to purchasing one. Chiropracty has helped, but that's a never ending wallet sucker.

I don't know how it will help you guys, but I've used one a few times and it made my back feel fantastic.

Mine worked great and saved many visits to the chiro to get snapped back in place. Once I figured out exactly how to hang by one leg and twist it worked every time. Had a hip that was displaced an inch or so.  Not so much after rupturing discs, sold it cause it didn't help at all after that. It all depends on why your back "goes out". the right back muscle building exercises/stretcing work the best. Got to keep at it.

I've been pondering one myself.  Everyone I know that has one swears by it.  I've never tried it, but Im willing to try anything that's relatively cheap and keeps me from starting that unending cycle of chiropractor visits.  I've never been to one and while I hear they're great, I also hear that once you go you can't stop.

Have had ours almost 2 years now, it helps both my wife & I. We have the Iroman table we bought thru Walmart online and had it shipped to our local store for pickup. I've had back problems for over 30 years and have had many sessions of physical therapy and chiropractic procedures and the inversion table works pretty much as good as any of it for me, I'm sure everyone will have different opinions. Neither of us do the full inversion, we both do approx. 45 - 50 degree and have the desired benefits without the heavy strain on the feet & ankles. One session will not cure you so don't get your expectations too high, but regular use helps us tremendously - it seems to be a cumulative effect. After a few sessions to get used to it, I almost fall asleep while inverted it feels so relaxing to me. My sessions are usually only 15 minutes or so. Ideally you should try to find a table to try somewhere a time or two before you buy to see if it's for you. We didn't have that opportunity but it worked out OK for us.

I love mine.  I don't think it would work for all conditions but in my case, chiro worked and then I was able to maintain and even improve with the use of inversion.

I've had spinal fusion (l5-S1) and have used an inversion table before; however, your back will be better served with one of the inflatable exercise balls (like those at Academy Sports).  I use mine every day and my back is soooooooo much better (pain-wise).  I recommend an exercise ball and forget the inversion table.

Try and get any kind of foam bootie to wear too. Most tables have a bar that goes across the top of your foot and hurts if there is nothing but the foam padding on the bar. They sell booties made of thick foam that help a lot.

Best money you will EVER spend if you have a back problem. My lower back is TRASHED from years of full contact martial arts, heavy liffting in the gym and some heavy hitting motorcycle crashes. TRASHED.

I had an out of the blue episode a few months back where my back hit so hard that I lost feeling in my legs and I couldn't even wipe my own ass. Hell, when I could finally walk unassisted, I sneezed and the pain made me pass out. Chiropractor? Did nothing. Acupuncture? Not a chance. Physical Therapy? Made it worse. Pain meds? Couldn't touch it.

I was unable to function for exactly one week. Then, my parents brought by their inversion table. I figured it was witch doctor crap, but I used it that night, next day I was mobile. 24 hours later Iw as able to get on and off of it myself. 48 hours later I could put my shoes on. 72 hours later, it was like nothing happened.

My spine doctor told me that it was the absolute best way to keep my back happy. Doing some reading online, medical test after medical study says the same thing. And for me? 5 minutes a day, and my back has never felt better.

Worth it. Get the best one you can afford too (cheap ones are flimsy).
