After hearing people that have had their identity stolen and not knowing about it for months, I wonder if I'm the only one who is paranoid?

I check my bank account about twice a day (everytime I get on the computer I open up gmail, AKO, usaa, foxnews and facebook).

I check my credit report (I have a monitoring service) a few times a week.

Does anyone else here check on there stuff a lot too?

No one would want my identity.

I check it a few times a week. I've had my credit card number stolen twice. Once it was used to re-up XBOX live memberships.

Usually, a good tip off is a small random charge appearing for just a few bucks. Then you'll see it refunded. My guess, is the crook is seeing if the card number is still good. If you see that, call your bank and cancel that card.

I check my bank / credit card accounts every week or two, check my credit report once or twice a year.

Been a victim of proper identity theft once* which took years to clear up, and credit card fraud about once a year (which the banks catch before I ma aware of it and overnight me a new card).

Identity theft is not just someone getting your credit card number and using it online, in my case it was someone getting my social secutity number and opening a bunch of store credit cards in variations of my name as well as cashing a bunch of completely fake home printed checks with variations of my name and bank that don't even exist, dumbass cashiers at the stores still accepted the checks.

My credit card was hacked 3 times in the last 8 years.  I use this card for gas and Internet shopping only, so the Internet is where it's getting tagged most likely. I try and use the same several merchants now, just to reduce my exposure. Paypal, Amazon, sears, Brownells. midwayusa, and a few others.

Who is stealing my numbers damn it?

somewhere around once a week, so between several times a week and once a month

Edit: I didn't notice when someone got my bank info, my bank did. Went to buy gas and card didn't work. Bank found it, stopped it, and had my money back within a week. TD Bank was great, the only bad part was that I was on vacation with no TD Banks around. All in all, not as bad as an experience as others.

I keep an eye on my accounts but I have debex (sp) also. Health Net had some encrypted info stolen and has paid for identity protection.
