I have it on good authority that a NIB XBox 360 with Kinect will soon be part of the DV8 household. I have a 14 year old daughter that like to play WII style games, i.e. bowling, golf, frisbee, tennis etc... I am a strict FPS/adventure style gamer from back in the day. I haven't had a gaming system in a half dozen years at least.
What are good games in the FPS arena? What are good games for my daughter? Any input is greatly appreciated. |

mw3 and battlefield 3. Play both. You'll like one better. Sell the other one. Skyrim is also necessary. no idea on the kinect type stuff though err no rent em for 2 bucks atRedbox first... err just get BF3. MW3 blows. Here we go with this shit. They're both worth owning, each for different reasons. |

BF3 isn't a good game to rent. You have to then spend another $10 or something for the online pass, which comes with the game if you buy it. People buy BF3 for the multiplayer, as the campaign is a tad lame. |

I just can't stand the 10ft x 10ft maps of SMG rapage anymore. |

I agree that the MW3 maps are a bit small, but I still have fun playing. MW3 and BF3 are very, very different. When I want to think and play as a member of a team, I play BF3. When I want to run around like a maniac shooting everything that moves, I play MW3. |

For FPS, I agree with everyone else. MW3 of BF3, which ever you prefer. For adventure games and the like, I have heard nothing but positive things about Batman: Arkham City. Gears of War series is also pretty good.
For Kinect, the standard Kinect Adventures can be entertaining. Dance Central and Kinect Sports are also pretty good. |

Halo (The entire series) Gears of War (1, 2, and 3) Skyrim OK, I played and beat Halo 1 and 2 for the original Xbox. How is Halo for 360 (I think it is Reach?) Halo ODST is alright, I've never actually played all the way through it. Halo: Reach is an amazing trip from start to finish, easily one of the best games I've ever played, and one of the greatest games ever, IMO. A must play. Check out the Dead Space series (the first game is superior, IMO, the second doesn't really bring anything new to the table but it's still a lot of fun to play), Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, the Bioshock series (like Dead Space, the first game is superior, the second is still fun though). BF3 vs MW3...you'll find fan boys of both. My opinion is the single player campaign of MW3 is superior and it wraps the series up pretty well. I think MW3's multiplayer is a little more polished, there were some crazy bugs I ran in to the couple of times I played BF3 multiplayer (spawned with no weapon, can't respawn during a match, I'm having like an out of body experience with the camera view just kinda floating around watching other folks get killed, etc). If you're not a multiplayer type dude, rent these and beat the single player campaign and return them. There ain't a whole lot of replay value for single players, unless you're an achievement junkie. Get the Gears of War series, they're all great games. If you're a fantasy/RPG/open world type guy, check out the Elder Scrolls games. The latest version of the series, Skyrim, is fantastic. The same folks (Bethesda Studios) also does the Fallout 3 series, which are good games too. They're all a little glitchy, but I think that's just from them being so freaking big. Lots of shit to do and explore around in. I don't have a Kinect, so I can't really help you there, sorry. |
