I just got an IM from a member that I paypal'd some cash to for an item. Seems the payment didn't go through. I checked my account and paypal randomly put a limit on the account and a hold on his funds. They made me change my password and reconfirm a bunch of stuff. The problem is they now want me to reconfirm my home phone. I no longer have a home phone, like many folks I only maintain a cell. I try to call and explain the problem to them, but wouldn't ya know no one is there to answer the phone on Saturdays. The only other way to confirm is to send them proof of address or a copy of my ID, something I'm unsure of in and of itself, and that is going to take a while (X number of days to mail it, and then how every long it takes to process it and remove the limitation). So basically fuck paypal. If they won't remove the limit I may just tell them to eat a dick, close the account, and send this gentleman a money order overnight mail. I mean seriosly, I've always used the same address, the same card, with no suspicious purchasing or spending patterns. Anyone else had an issue like this? BTW wallaceauto your IM box is full. |
It is a fucked up company for sure but if you buy or sell on e-bay you need it. I cancelled a credit card and was issued a new number because the old one had been compromised. I went on Paypal to change it but it wouldn't let me because there was a transaction processing. That was 4 months ago and it still won't let me delete the cancelled card
Edit: still getting this message You may not remove your back-up funding source while an instant transfer is still pending. even though no transfer is pending. Jerks. |

IB someone tells you that's what you get for using paypal. No offense to the seller (who has been awesome by the way, Wallaceauto +1 big time). but that's what he preferred. I was ambivelant since I had just been burned by another guy (different seller) I paid using a MO (tried to say it took a week to get there (in state) and took over 2 weeks to shit and item that was listed as new that turned out to be used/damaged (it was a set of ESS goggles that were dirtry and the foam was dry rotting with the band worn/slightly frayed). I'm wishing I would have just stuck cash in an envelope and mailed it. I really feel bad that this guy has to wait for his cash because of their bullshit. |

I only use PP when I HAVE to which is only once or twice a year. I've heard so many horror stories. At this point I would never use it for any amount that I feel I couldn't lose. GL So had I, but I was like "fuck it, I'm good I don't use it that much". Well I started using ebay and my use has upticked recently. Ironically this was a transaction here though that caused a problem. I guess it was inevitable given how often them seem to fuck people. I guess I'll just switch to paying cash, MO, CC, or check and only using ebay as a method to contact sellers then finish the transaction elsewhere. |
same problem here. Got the email a few weeks ago but dident pay it much attention. Went to buy something last night off of e-gay and went to pay only to have the same limit. I do have a phone line because i have DSL but i actually do not own a phone that plugs into the wall

If the seller has paypal like ebay requires then you don't need paypal. Just use a CC or debit card. That is why under payment options it says paypal with visa mastercard amex etc. under it. |

If I do end up getting rid of my account, I'd prefer to deny them as much business as possible. Even processing the credit card through them nets them a percentage. |

Many people now days simply do not maintain land lines, but then again that gets to the heart of the matter I think. What they really want is to have your bank account info and/or at least as much of you personal info as possible so they can use it to recoup debts should you try to abscond with someones money. The real problem there seems to be that they can't be counted on to fairly arbitrate disputes. At the end of the day the decision is based upon what prevents them from loosing money, or in some cases what allows them to justify demanding more money from you from what I've seen. |
| I've used PAYPAL for about 4yrs. now and I've never had a problem that couldn't be resolved. I had to "reconfirm" after I'd spent $25,000. From there on out My payments have all gone through. I ALWAYS use my credit card on online purchases and if I have a problem with the seller that E-Bay/Paypal can't or won't resolve to my satisfaction in one week I dispute the charge and I get my money back. |
