| So, haven't heard much about it lately. What's the consensus? |
|
Quoted: Quoted: I thought a half year ago, they sent off one or two to Afghanistan or Iraq for live trials against insurgents. I remember reading about it hear, not too long ago. That's the last I heard of it. That it was being fielded in small numbers in Afghanistan. Like 13 to be exact. Very small numbers...to the 173rd (I believe it was). Joe wanted more. NOW. So manufacturing and fielding is being ramped up by about a year... |

Quoted: I never understood how they expected anyone to field with it, big, cumbersome and awkward IMO. Or...none of the above. It's 14lbs loaded...about the same as the M4 with a 203 slung under it and all the other optics on it. It's 29in...shorter than the M4..and a bullpup design... And instead of reaching 400m with a 203...you can reach out to 1000m. and have the rd explode at a designated range to produce the best frag pattern. |

I stopped following it years ago, the first ones that were in American Rifleman are what I recall. |

Trying humping a M240 for more than 2 miles and then tell me about "cumbersome". ![]() lol...After about 5 there's just no way to carry it that's comfy and it becomes a constant rearrangement dance... SAW wasn't much better... |

Last I heard, the manufacturer wanted to withdraw them, for improvements and such, and the guys downrange said not just no, but HELL no. Instead, the manufacturer tooled up another run of ammo. (Ammo production isn't really large-scale, yet.)
IIRC, the biggest complaint was that the power system is rechargeable, but the battery pack isn't replaceable. If it goes dead, you have to get back to a vehicle or grid access point to charge it, instead of carrying fresh batteries. |

Imagine 2nd gen of them that get pushed out won't have that... |

Quoted: Works good in Modern Warfare 3. Even if the fancy airburst shit never pans out it is still a semi sutomatic grenade launcher with a 5 round magazine. How can that fail to fuck haji up in a variety of entertaining ways? The part in red is what's so bad ass about it. Before with grenade launchers you had to individually insert a new round into the barrel. With the detachable magazine feed system, it allows the single infantryman to put out an ungodly amount of firepower in a short matter of time. |

I can see the appeal in this...if someone else carries it for me. |
