Was in the kitchen and hear a knock at front door,so I go to answer.Look outside and see a Fed Ex van,so I open the door. She then hears my dog (150# Rhodesian Ridgeback)coming down the hall and with a very scarred look asked if that was a dog.I smiled and said yes and tryed to get out the front door to the porch before he rounded the corner. Now she is pushing the door shut on me.I gave her a big smile and said "he is just checking to see if you have pizza".Now I am on the porch and she is still verry concerned about the dog so I stepped up against the door to set her mind at ease and she rudely said "Thats not funny".I asked her "Whatcha got for me"and she says again "THATS NOT FUNNY".So I asked "whats not funny"and she said "you laughing at me".I said oh no no no  I was not laughing at you ! Then she pushes her little signy pad in my chest and I grab it and sign and she tells me "ther are 2 more packages in the van and you need to come out and get them" and she heads toward the van(about 40 feet from front step). Now I am a little pissed at the way she has handled the situation so I stay on the porch. She gets to the van grabs the to packages and turns around and to her horror I did not follow her.I am ready to let her know that it is her job to bring the packages to me,but she brought them to the end of the drive and tossed them on the ground. She looked at me one last time and said "THATS NOT FUNNY I am going to have to put You on the list" and walked away.

Now I live out of the city by 20 miles and she looked uncomfortable about being in my town(we did not look the same),but I did not aim to make her feel uncomfortable!!!!(she was not a typical big box truck driver.it was a van so it is not the usual guy)

Is there such a list and if so what can I expect from being on said list?

Sounds to me that she expressed concern about your dog - which you blew off.... and then when she asked you to come to the truck because of her concern - you intentionally jerked her around to amuse yourself.  She sensed this - and you may or may not be going on a list of addresses where Fedex driver's are either alerted to your dog - or may modify deliveries.

If you hadn't been a dick and walked to the truck, you could have smoothed things over, that is, barring any physical impairment. I would have done it in a heartbeat.

Of course, I am pleased when they actually attempt to deliver, rather than put a sticker on the door, ring the doorbell, and run like hell.

If the door was latched the driver was in the wrong, if you didnt latch the door then pick your packages up at the truck. If you dont have a properly trained dog then lock it up when you answer the door.

I did not blow it off I just politely smiled and she took it as I was laughing at her.I should of went to the truck but I was a little mad and puzzled at her reaction.I also had three 4 year olds eating in the kitchen so I dont like to get to far away from them.

I could and should've done things better but it really escaladed quickly!!

See I did not think I was being a dick but that is how people take it.

A friend of mine loves going to the Indy 1500 gun and knife show with me.He keeps count of all the people I piss off. I really dont mean to people just dont get my attempt at humor.

You don't need me to tell you that people don't like to be laughed at - especially when fear is involved.

Actions have consequences.  Fedex has a vote in all of this and they aren't obligated to make deliveries where their drivers feel unsafe.

As you said in the next post - you seem to enjoy jerking people around.

Actions have consequences.  Some more than others.

Is that like:

"Double Secret Probation?"

And since you mentioned a FedEx delivery.............

Today, I  was expecting the FedEx guy to deliver two cans of CMP ammo.  I heard the knocking (no, he didn't ring the door bell) alittle after 1100 am.  Knowing that the FedEx guy usually likes to run away without waiting, I quickly got out of bed and yelled, "I'm coming"  (maybe, I should have used some other words?).  So anyway, I rushed downstairs and I can see that on the frt door glass there is that dreded non-delivery sticker.  Jeez, he was already set to not deliver the package.  So, I quickly opened the door, hoping to still catch the driver before he jumped in his truck.

Cough, cough, ooops...........it was a FedEx Delivery Lady .    Did I mention that I only had the bottom of my long underware on.   I was so embarassed that I actually forgot what she looked like.

Aloha, Mark

I am a FedEx driver and I will say this you have to deal with dogs all day and every dog owner says the same thing. Oh don't worry he doesn't bite. When the truth is every dog will bite you just have to find it's boiling point. Almost every driver I know at the hub has been bit, usually minor, but we have one guy that got bit in the foot and hand by 2 dogs and had to have several surgeries on hand and foot. Fedex's policy on dogs is if there is a dog don't take a chance. code the package a security delay, and they will hold the package until the owner can be contacted, no questions asked. Also we are told to push the door closed if dogs are going for the door. Not saying the way this driver handled the situation was right, but dog owners also tend to get very defensive when you feel threatend by there dogs that don't bite.

They do have a list although it is informal, but they do note aggressive dogs and troublesome people. Most of the times when they send the people around in the small vans ( usually the supervisor ) is when one drivers route is full  and to keep the deliveries on schedule. Sounds like she doesn't like dogs or maybe she was having a bad day. Next time you get a delivery and you get a " sorry we missed you door tag " it means that you'll have to drive to the hub and do a pick up ( suspicions of being on the list is confirmed ) . At this point calling to complain only seals your fate. I'd let it slide and hopefully you have a relationship with the normal driver who'll deliver to you.

Just tell them, if the dog bites me, it dies and you will be picking up your packages at the station.

Everyone, do your visitors a favor and either train your dog or lock them up when you have visitors. Not everyone thinks your dog is cute when it jumps all over them and slobbers all over them.

That I can make sense of but most of this took place before she even seen the dog.I aleays try to get out the front door and get it shut before the dog knows what is going on.Most of the time the door opens there is a nice guy delivering a box of pizza crust for him,so he gets excited when there is a knock.

I just have never seen this kind of reaction before. It strikes me as odd,but the next time I will just go out the back and walk around. As a dog owner I still dont like going around dogs I dont know but her reaction was much like a kids first bluegill!!! I just smiled and she took offense to that.

It doesn't really block you from deliveries, usually if a driver get's bitten or has a problem with a customer your address will be flagged as a use caution or discretion notice to the driver. If it is really bad as far as threats or confrontations then yes they will block you and you'll get a phone call on how and where to pick up your packages. If he he has a good relationship with the normal route driver he'll probably never even know that his address has been flagged ( That is if she even took the time to report it ). Just really depends on the mood of the driver that day, if they see a big dog out in the front yard they might say F' it and not deliver the package(s).

Yes.

FedEx mysteriously "lost" my address and said it didn't exist in their system and they couldn't deliver after one of their contractors got all butthurt about a delivery of lead bullets that he had to carry 14 feet from his truck, in my driveway, to the porch.... After I offered to help him knowing they were 50lbs per box and having a big pile o' boxes.
After that driver left the company, I started getting packages again and not cryptic emails stating they couldn't deliver because my house slipped into some alternate dimension.  I had to pickup every package at the local Kinko's for about three years.

Needless to say, I do my best to ship via UPS now.
