First off, Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I am not sure how I got conned into this, but there is a run taking place today and I am signed up. The wife is into running and she tries to hit up all of the events that she can. She must have twisted my arm while I was a few beers deep, or what not, but anyways I am running it today. Lucky for me its only a 5k, so I think I will survive

All of the proceeds go to the local food bank so its a really good deal. Plus at the end you get a free pint glass, and a free beer . Maybe that's why I said I would do it.

Anyways, Ill post a pic of us once we hit the finish line. That is if I make it

Nice. Most people want to just sit in front of the TV and eat for four days. Don't forget to stretch out the hammies.

My wife and son (HS cross country runner) run in these evnts all the time. They have tried to con me into them a few times, but I just go and cheer them on.
I'm not overweight (5'10" - 190 lbs) but I'm in much worse shape than I used to be. Everything went downhill starting at 40. I don't think I'd survive, even a 5K.

Good luck to ya.
Enjoy the beer.

Our Local YMCA does the 'Turkey Trot' 5k every year.
I've done it the past few years, but didn't sign up this year.

I'm heading off to one in about 15 min.  One of my fat friends made a drunk promise to one of my fit friends and I am on the ass kicking squad to keep him going.

A couple of my friends set up what they call "The Rubber Chicken Relay" wherein teams of 2 people run two legs each of two miles.  Entry fee is simply a few cans of food (or a donation) to the local foodbank.  I have to get down there in a few mintues .......... I'll let you know how it went.

Well I got done in 31min.  I'm a pretty slow fucker but I did it without stopping and that is my new personal best for distance.  Only been running for about a month.

They ought to make a Thanksgiving Day run a little more interesting by requiring all the runners to eat 4 platefuls of turkey and all the trimmings.

I suppose everyone but the street cleaners would agree with me.

good on ya. I went back to running today on the treadmill after about a 2 month layoff to let my ankle/heel recover after a little surgery and give my shins some recovery down time too. I still need to get some motion control shoes as I figured out I am over pronating a little bit which led to me hurting my right ankle in the first place. Hope you had fun. Were you guys running in snow ? How was it ?

I just finished....

Just kidding. After the run we came home and left for the parents house. I would have posted pics but they don't have cell service out there. Also, my damn phone died right after the run so I didn't get a pic of the wife and I at the finish line.

Starting Line for the 5k

Beer line after the race

As far as time I have not found out yet. I think I ran it in around 34 or 35 mins but I will find out when they post the times online in the next few days. I didn't stop to walk, the entire time so I was pretty happy

Holy shit! There are buildings over three stories in Montana? I didn't know that. I thought all of you lived in sod houses.

Welcome to the "big city" of Billings. That building is the largest in the state. 20 floors!

I love 5k races. There is a preponderance of yoga pants at those things.

I'm a runner.  If you are single. you should be too. You would not believe the talent at these races.  Alas, I'm married.    But, the wife won't run, so I can look at everything

The only reason I ran it was because the wife is a runner. But I do agree, there are some lookers there
