I have a file i need to open.  It is on a CD and DCM code.  for whatever reason, when I try to open it I get a message that says "Windows cannot open this file."

It wants me to choose a program from a list or search the web to find a program to run it.  I already have acrobat on this computer.

Please let me know of any suggestions you have.

You said DCM code. Is the suffix on the file DCM?  If so, I give up. If different, what?

You'll need the viewer for dicom images. If you can't find the name of one i'll look for the disc of my images. Did you get this from the hospital? IF so it should have came with one.

.DCM File

File extension: DCM

File type: Backup Tracking File

Notes about the DCM file extension:

Errors in your registry are one of the common causes for incorrect file
associations on your windows system. It is highly recommended that you  for file association errors (will also check for any other registry errors).

The DCM file type is primarily associated with 'My Book' by Western Digital Corporation.

The backup software that comes with the Western Digital My Book creates files for keeping track of changes to text-based files.

For example, if you backup a text file named EXAMPLE.TXT, the Western
Digital backup software creates an XML-formatted file named
EXAMPLE.TXT.DCM. That allows the backup program to determine if
EXAMPLE.TXT was changed or not. If it did change, the file is added to
an incremental backup, and if it did not change, there is no need to
back it up again.

Detailed information for file extension DCM:

Memeo AutoBackup. The actual path, the creation date and time of the
file, and the checksum value are stored in the .dcm file.
For each backed up file, there should be a corresponding .dcm file.
Memeo AutoBackup needs files with extension DCM to perform a full
restore. By default these files are set to hidden and they're very small
in size: approx. 1kb in size. However if users tend to have View Hidden
Files option on then they will be able to see these files without any
problems. It is not recommended to delete these files since they don't
take up much space and are useful backups.
