Wpn824v2
I was trying to install a firmware update and it would not update. Downloaded from their site and tried to upload it into router. Router said all internet access would be lost and then couldn't update router, task bar never moved. No internet access through router now, wireless led is off. I can't even log onto the router with a hard line connection. I tried a manual reset and it doesn't seem to have worked. Any Ideas? |

Any Ideas? my guess is you had it on a different subnet and the firmware flash took it to a differrent one 192.168.1.x v 192.168.0.x is your nic on dhcp? needs moar info to be sure if you do start run cmd ipconfig /all it would give moar info, |

I too am betting the firmware upgrade reset the interface to the default 192.168.1.1. Is the PC you were working from set to automatically receive it's IP address (DHCP) or is is static?
Here's the manual for that model. Page 7-7 gives instructions for reseting to the factory default if you need it. ETA: I see you mentioned a "manual reset". Does that mean you already did a factory reset? |

I think DHCP. |

I had one of those, or nearly identical from Comcast because it was free. Never had any luck, would revert to crappy use dying off every so often. I dumped it for a Belkin. Work great for the past 4 or 5 years and then I try this. Fucking netgear want $69 to fix it over the phone to upgrade my warranty. The Indian dude didn't seem to understand that I could get a new one for cheaper. |

Check your network connection on your directly attached computer to make sure it is DHCP. Try pointing your browser to 192.168.1.1 and see if the router management page comes up. If that doesn't allow you to connect you might try assigning a static address in the same subnet as the factory setting on the router such as 192.168.1.10 and trying again.
If all that doesn't get you there, I would be concerned that there was possibly an interruption during the firmware flash rendering the router unusable. |

Wpn824v2 ... I can't even log onto the router with a hard line connection. Any Ideas? Did you do the update from a computer connected with WiFI? I think that is a no-no... Also, from the manual: Tip: Before upgrading the router software, use the router backup menu to save your configuration settings. Any router upgrade will revert the router settings back to the factory defaults. After completing the upgrade, you can restore your settings from the backup. |

I know this isn't your model numbef but this may still work for you.

everything I have ever seen before cautions strongly against F/W upgrades through wireless. Yep, bad juju. You may have bricked it. ETA: the preceding unbricking procedure looks doable, you'll have to have a wired connection and probably manually set your computer IP. |

Not sure if i set the internet connection right, windows 7 is foreign to me, Looks like it's time for a free on from comcast. |

lol bricked
When you get one that works change the default password if you leave it unsecured. I was at a friends recently and most his neighbors just pulled their router out of the box and plugged it in. If i wasn't such a nice guy i would have done more than just restart them. In hopes they would be like wtf and maybe check it out and learn something. |
