Yes another Ford Power stroke thread
if anyone is running the 2011 or 2012, F-250 or 350

wondering what everyone is averaging on mileage loaded or unloaded, around town or highway, and  of course what gears

From everything I've read, about 1-2(2 is pushing it) across the board compared to the 6.0.  The 6.4 was abysmal.

My dad averages 16 city and about 19 hwy unloaded...Loaded with a 17ft trailer and a John Deere tractor he gets about 13-14 combined

Every 6000 miles you refill get over it.
we traded a 6.7 cummins for this. got 14mpg hwy vs 20 with the ford that pulls better.

Yeah, the DEF is not a big deal. The people that seem to complain about it are those who don't own a vehicle with it.

As far as MPGs, it really depends on a lot of things, what gears, load, tires, speed, etc.

My 2011 6.7 has 3.55's, and the 20" wheels (can't remember the tire size off the top of my head).

If I'm cruising on flat level ground at 60mph, unloaded I get 22.5mpg.

When I drove out west on a hunting trip with four guys and a bed packed with hunting gear, averaging about 75-80mph we got around 15mpg.

Pulling an 8000lb trailer across the Rockies and averaging 70-75mph I got about 12mpg. Oh, and the best thing about this is I could stick it in cruise and hold 70mph in 6th gear pulling up the steepest parts of I70 without the truck flinching.

A truck that pulls up to 20% power and then will not restart when the tank empties from a bullshit special fluid is something I will never own.  I promise you I know mOre about def then anyone on here.

So 350/800 vs 400/800 is anemic. Interesting.

He is just bitter as he owned one of the few Cummins that had head gasket problems. Yet there are guys in 4 door trucks running 10 second 1/4 mile times on a stock head gasket.

Pulled with both. its not numbers, its power to the ground according to my ass-dyno

Didnt bring up the headgasket problem, did i? While searching the cummins forums it was more than a few...
14mpg without urea or 20mpg with... looks worth it to me.

I loved the dodge, it was my dads and we used it all the time, i was going to get one for myself until it lived in the shop.
Nice quincidence that another 6.7 was parked next to ours for same problem, not at dodge shop either.

Hell the way my dealership talked if I did not have complete records of all oil changes and used only OEM filters etc. They would not honor the warranty.

After I heard that I said fuck it I'll be my own warranty station. Ordered Turbo, Injectors, Cam, Studs, and built my own exhaust and intake and got rid of all the choke down BS that the EPA thought was killing the ozone.

Tryed like hell to let me just buy the warranty back from them. Yea that went no where.

17.0 mpg, F350 4x4 dually.  Pull 32' tandum and 24' cattle trailer.  The tandum is heavy and my mileage drops to 14 or so, the cattle trailer drops it to 16 mpg.  My third Ford Diesel and the Best I have had so far.  My last was a 99' 7.3 which was a work horse.  In so far as DEF, I understand they will all have it shortly.  I actually drove a Dodge and was impressed but the salesman kept hounding me on the extended warrantly for the electrical system.  Oh well, back to my Ford.  This truck runs!
