if you buy smoked salmon, does that mean you don't have to cook it? it doesnt say anything other than "serve at ambient temperature" on the package. I already ate the whole package because its so damn good on a bagel with cream cheese, butt he food poisoning thread got me thinking.

It's already preserved via salt and smoke.  Eat and enjoy.

yes, but the bbq i eat is usually hot. another question...is there a way to make it yourself to save money? i paid $12 for a 12 ounce package, and that lasted me about a day and a half.

Lox is different than smoked salmon. Different ways of preparation.

Both are delicious though!!!
