I'm a little shocked to see so many people supporting this guy.

What part of Perry stil draws your support? What redeeming factors does he have in your eyes?
10/26/2011 6:11:14 AM EDT

I'm not actively supporting him, but am comfortable with him getting the nod.

He's not Obama, and he's not Romney.

That's a start.

His performance as head of the executive branch of government in Texas.

Because I don't view the Republican primary race as the daytime TV soap opera/reality TV that the media wants it to be?
10/26/2011 6:13:34 AM EDT
[#4]
Because fuck ya, that's why.

And he's done a pretty good job in Texas, especially when you look at how much of a hit the rest of the country has taken. I'll vote for whatever Republican makes it to the general election, but in the primaries, I'm voting for Perry.

I think that's about it. fairly lukewarm

Kinda the same for when he's ran for governor here the last time. He wasn't a DC knob slobber trying to appear conservative for the home frys, and he wasn't Bill White.

Cain is who I'm supporting (and have been since the start).

But I would vote for a Perry in the general election happily (I won't vote for Romney in any circumstance).

Perry just seems like to me that he would expand the federal government....and judging from his "Flat Tax" proposal (which does nothing to address the current mess, but add to it), hes proving me right.

Very much Pro-2A.

I support how he's managed our state.

He's not Romney.

Well, my wife thinks he is the best looking candidate running but won't for vote somebody that reminds her of GW Bush.

Personally, if he got the nomination I'd vote for him but this week, the fickle voter that I am, I'm a Cain fan.

I'm kinda swinging back to him because Cain has been saying some truly stupid shit lately.

Perry's tax/economic plan has been getting kudos.

Romney's lack of support for Kasich's fight against public sector unions just shows how much a cowardly, flip flopping, piece of shit he is.

I don't love him, but I will take him over Romney.

~I dislike the instate tuition for illegals and I don't think he is very conservative.  Truthfully, the governor's office doesn't have very much power in the budget process.  The very conservative legislature welds much more influence on policy.

I also don't like the fact that his tax plan allows people to keep the current system

This, his pro gun stance.  I won't vote for Romney under any circumstances though, it's easier to have support against obama's anti gun bullshit than a republican with the same stance.

Successful executive administration of the 2nd largest economy in the Union which happens to be the the 15th largest in the world.

As well as serving longer than any governor in Texas history.

Pro-Life, Pro 2nd Amendment.  I don't feel that Cain or Romney support either beyond convenience.

I've lived through Perry - I had to research each of his issues when they happened.  It is easy to hate them out of context.  In context - well that is why we keep re-electing him.  In each case I could understand his actions and usually (after understanding them) could agree with them - the main exception was the NAFTA highway - I understood it was a major party push and he was doing his time as a Republican.  It still pissed me off a bit.  Most just took the time to actually understand what the  was going on and why the it happened.

With NAFTA, even then, the devil was in the details.  But I can almost guaranty that 99% of the population does not have a clue what the corridor was really about - and the reasons behind it were almost enough for me to feel the land grab was worth it.

For starters, he cut spending in a time of revenue shortfalls.  This is SOUND fiscal sense, contrary to the neo-Keynesism the progressives tout.

This inflames liberals, like my SIL who will probably die of a brain aneurism if Perry is elected president.  Guess what, she is an educator and a liberal oxygen thief.

If it weren't for Governor Perry, the EPA would have run roughshod over the states on air quality issues with implementation of lower threshold limits of ground level ozone.  This would have bankrupted many coal-fired power plants, causing electricity rates to "necessarily skyrocket", in the words of BHO.

Do you know why Rick Perry has a list of fuck ups? Because he's the only candidate who's been Governor of the second largest state in the union for the last twelve years.

1. He won't ban your guns. Romney would sign a ban. We know that already, he has done it. Cain might well. He doesn't not get the 2A at all.
2. He won't do socialized medicine. Romney will and has. Cain we don't know.
3. He wants do cut entitlements. Romney will keep or increase. Cain we don't know, but he has already said he will not tax the "poor" ie "entitled". (See 9-0-9 and 9-0-0)
4. Perry would be the best bet for maintaining the Military at strength.
5. Who do you want deciding who we go to war with, a guy who shoot with Larue, A former treasury guy and Pizza mogul, or a Massachusetts RINO.

Perry is not my first choice, Bachmann is.

I see him as pro status quo on the subject.

Texas economy?  Besides the oil industry,  I see the Texas economy as being built on the backs of illegal alien labor.
That's my first hand observation, having spent a little time working down there while Perry governed.
The place has become a half Mexican state.
