I just saw the VW commercial {Rocket Man} and was thinking, That Guy is a Genius, ............[Homophobes go away]

discuss............ready GO! The 'greatness' of classic Elton John can't really be considered without realizing that most of those old songs were written by Bernie Taupin. Can't have one without the other, really. |

If you were born after 1980, Elton John sucks. I was born in 1980 and Elton John sucks. He looks and sings like he has downs. I like one song of his. Funeral For A Friend is pretty good. Everything else sounds like everything that was wrong with music pre-1980. He sucks worse than Phil Collins. To suck worse than Phil Collins, you pretty much have to snort an 8-ball of shit daily. |

Elton is one of those "must see" performers.
For as good as his music is recorded he just blows the roof off when he plays live. And yes, get your "blows" jokes in if you must. I could care less that he is gay. The guy flat out rocks. He can sing, play the piano, and put on a live show that will leave you wanting one more encore when the house lights finally come up. |

Judas Priest is one of my favorite bands. Have seen them many times live. Rob Halford is supergay. No issue. All the dickguzzling keeps him in 3 octaves in his 60's I guess.

Rob Halford would kick Elton John's ass. I too am a huge Priest fan. And while I hate to derail this thread further, I still remember being totally SHOCKED when I found out the Rob Halford was gay. In looking back at the old Priest videos I have no idea how I could have missed it. All that leather, choker collars, guys standing up in a Caddy convertible dressed as such and pumping their fists. It seems obvious in retrospect. I don't care who could kick who's ass, they both rock. Back to the thread at hand.

Elderberry Wine Roy Rogers (a personal favorite) A saw him in concert July 1st 1976 at the Capital Center outside DC. He put on one hell of a show. He was all decked out in Red, White, and Blue in honor of our Nation's birthday. Yeah a peter puffer for sure but one great artist. |
