When I was a Kid someones had a Cobra Snake that escaped and ended up on our street I dont know but my brother provoked it and he came running home with this snake following him. I was amazed to see this snake coming at us with its distinct flared head and at full speed..Dad told us to go inside and he ran it over with his suburban.

What part of the country are you from?
It might have been a snake the locals call a "Blowing Viper". I can't remember what the real name is but it has a kind of cobra-like hood. ETA... Here it is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterodon_platirhinos |

Pretty bad ass looking.. I remember almost stepping on a black and white , stripped snake when I was trout fishing as a kid here in Virginia. I have no idea what kind of snake it was. |

I used to Live in Maine and was chased by a Bull moose while bow hunting one time, scary stuff.
I was also in Alaska years ago and myself and a group of people were chased by a grizzly bear but I wasn't as scared as I was with the moose, half the group was a bunch of fat fucks and I knew I could outrun them. 
when I was in the Navy I'm sure I've been quite close to some marine critters but I never saw them. |

when I was in the Navy I'm sure I've been quite close to some marine critters but I never saw them. Sounds kinda fun in a way.. I remember getting chased by a Bull (moo cow kind) in the past 5 years looking at land with my wife and realtor..I was scared and running for my life, but smiling at the same time if you know what i mean.

Dad said it was a cobra but he exaggerated stuff like that to us as kids to make things seem more interesting. I don't think they get much longer than that but cobras can get VERY long. It could well have been an escaped/released exotic. There was a woman killed around here a couple of years back. The snake was unknown but a released exotic was suspected, due to the fact that she died not long after arriving at the hospital. |

I've had a few close encounters with gators here in Florida.
Also had several bear encounters in Alaska and Grand Teton, Yosemite and Yellowstone. And got chased through the parking lot of a campground in Olympic National Park in WA state by an irate mommy elk. |

I got chased like a quarter mile by a black racer once.
I got bit a few times by a copperhead and they were dry bites. I was kicked in the face by a horse. I have been stung my scorpions. I was fishing and caught a catfish. It was attacked by a copperhead and a snapping turtle while on the line. I shot all 3 with my AR. I kicked a goose at work once. |
| Been stalked by a black bear in Alaska - my partner shot it in the throat at very close range. Been charged by elephants three times - shot one bull at very close range in Zimbabwe. Been treed by rhinos several times. Seen plenty of puff adders, night adders, etc. |
