My wife and I have joint bank accounts through USAA.

I think it's more of a pain in the ass than anything.

For those of you who bank through USAA, do you also have a local brick and mortar bank you use?

How do you withdraw large amounts (few grand) of cash?

How do you deposit that cash if you don't use it?

I have a saving account at a local credit union in addition to my USAA accounts and I use that account to store money.  My post-911 benefits go into my USAA checking account, which I don't touch.  My wives paycheck goes into the USAA checking account and that pays the bills.  My savings account local is the store my extra cash, get M.O.'s from and cash checks.  You can also scan and upload checks to the USAA account as well but using the credit union is easier for me.

I usually don't need much cash but if I do then I use the ATM.  If you need a lot of cash you just call USAA and they will list the restriction of what the maximum allowable withdrawal per day so you can get whatever you need.  I did it when I needed a lot of money to buy a car with cash.

Yes.  I have a local CU that I use for my day-to-day bills.

I use USAA banking as a secondary bank...benefit to me is that they provide me with free ATM usage.   I link the accounts so I can move money around.   I also have an investemng account with USAA so I can buy/sell stocks.

I use Suntrust as my local bank.  It takes my direct deposit and all bills are paid from Suntrust.  I also have my mortgage through Suntrust.

All "big" banks are evil...I find Suntrust less evil and their fee structure is not too bad.

You have to meet certain criteria to be eligible.....I think you need a mortgage or credit card with USAA.  I have neither so I do not get to do this, but I do not need to as I can deposit the check with Suntrust and then transfer between Suntrust and USAA.

I have both

But I can't deposit a coffee can full of change with USAA.  Unless they'll let me scan that.  In which case, I have hundreds of coffee cans waiting to be deposited.
