Yep. In Stocton,CA. Patrick Purdy shot up a group of kids at the Cleveland School.Huge tragedy. It was the event that brought EBRs to the public
eye in a huge way. Before that most people,even gun owners did not know guns like that existed or were legal. I was on the fence about whether I should get a Colt AR15 for about $400 N.I.B., or save a little longer & get the HK91 N.I.B. for about $470.On 1/18/89 prices went up by a factor of 5. or more. I lived in San Antonio at the time. I remember seeing Mini14s for $2,200,HKs for $2,500,ARs for $2,500. I was also into assembling ARs at that time. I remember dialing Quality Parts(Bushmaster) all day for weeks & getting a busy signal all the time. It was madness. EBR prices have been on a roller coaster ride ever since. |
