I stabbed myself in the top of the foot with a philips head bit on a power drill 5 days ago. Went pretty deep, possibly into the muscle but I washed it off with some alcohol and though nothing of it.

It was fine for 3 days, but yesterday my foot started aching when standing or walking on it. It feels like a joint or tendon pain, kind of like arthritis.

It is no better this morning and I am contemplating wether to spend ~$500 on going to the walk-in clinic.

Should I fo or will it get better on its own?

I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't worry about much though.

Could very well be an abscess developing. Watch it for a day or so, if it becomes red and swollen and you can't stand to stand on it () go to the clinic, better than having half a foot cut off with a 25 000 bill later.

stab the other foot to redirect the pain

Good thing it was a Phillips head and not a Torx.  Torx cause amputations.

Public Service Announcement - Alcohol and / or hydrogen peroxide are not suitable for cleaning punctures and lacerations.

An ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure...
If it's infected and you get it successfully treated BEFORE it abscesses, you will be way ahead.
You won't believe what the surgery to fillet your foot and drain the pus will cost.

This is the only logical solution, carry on.

Open it back up and pour in some gunpowder.
Light it off to kill the nasties.
Worked like a champ in the movies.

ETA: Dibs on leftover sammich supplies.

A puncture wound to the foot, top or bottom, has landed many people in the hospital for IV Abx...
Often small bits of that bacteria farm we call a shoe will be forced into the wound.
Very compartmentalized, your foot is, anatomically speaking...
A localized infection can be a serious issue...
Just sayin'...
Good luck with it.

I knew a guy who got a deep puncture wound on the top of his hand, between his thumb and index.  He didn't go to the doctor and it abcessed for about a month.  He said one night he squeezed it and about a half a cup of pus squirted across the room.  Then it got better.

If you get the craving for human flesh, make sure the shot destroys your brain or the brain stem.

Possibly an infection. Puncture wounds are a breeding ground anaerobic bacteria.
go to the urgent care and get it taken care of.
