So, say there is no deal. The debt ceiling does not get increased, and .gov has to take an immediate 40% haircut. Who decides where the money that do have, gets distributed? Does Obongo cut funding to the dod, and leave our troops high and dry? Who makes the call on this one?

I was thinking along those line.  Just where is the .gov gonna cut back?  They've got their hand in everything so who get's to decide?  Is the Executive branch gonna try and cut the areas where it seems to hurt the most to get the most media traction or will they cut the welfare programs first?

I can say as a retired vet they better not cut my paycheck...not first anyway. I've earned what I get.  Social Security recipients at least paid in something so expect something back.

I was reading today where the FAA might have to cut back in some areas.

They better be cutting off handout and freeloaders first

The FFA has been living on short term extensions (20 of them) the last one ran out yesterday. The republicans have issues with some of the funding so have refused to pass a long term funding plan. This will halt 2.5 billion dollars in construction projects (read construction workers layed off) and the FAA will cut none traffic controller personal.

I doubt that the white house would do anything to cut funding for any DOD war funding or veterans benefits. If you look at history Obama has treated the veterans way better than GW did. I have many veterans on retirement and disability that tell me that is the case. GW in this area liked to talk the talk but not walk the walk.

Good question I don't know who makes the funding decisions I would assume that it is the Treasury department and the executive branch.

The President is the EXECUTIVE, so he gets to decide, int eh abscence of further law.

I doubt he would halt funding of active duty troops. but you might see serious interupetions of state-side pay, etc.

Treasury Secretary Turbo Tax Timmy makes the decisions.

Since he is an Obama political appointee he will do everything he can to fuck over the Republicans - but you can bet that welfare, foodstamps, HUD, etc, are still funded at 100%.

This.  Dept. of Treasury gets to decide.  You can be sure that means Obama will be deciding.

The debt ceiling, or wanting to make it HIGHER, is just a back-door way of printing more money that is backed by nothing, that in the end, will inflate on itself.

Yes, debt principal that will NEVER be paid back is EXACTLY like printing more money.
