I have two AKs in 7.62x39 and I also have an FS2000.

I have come to the conclusion that I really like the FS2000 and based on some other member's experience they seem to be very reliable and resilient weapons.

So, I now find myself considering selling my AKs in order to fund another FS2000.

According to my figgers, if I sell both of my AKs, all of my 7.62x39 ammo, all of my AK mags and drums and my 3rd spare AR upper then I would have enough cash to buy another FS2000 and a couple thousand more rounds of 5.56 ammo.

The question is: Should I?

Doing so would allow me to consolidate my rifle calibers from 3 to 2 and give me a backup weapon for what is quickly becoming my favorite long gun. I would still have a Kalashnikov in my collection since I own a Tantal as well.

The down side is that no one seems to have any money right now and I could wind up taking a hit on the actual value of the weapons versus the current market value. Then again, I could always hold out until I get the price I'm looking for. I also have to admit that given all the BATFE bullshit lately, I am not all that keen on the idea of selling a couple of Kalashnikovs in Texas right now. This could be mitigated by taking the buyer's DL information, but I hate to do that.

The other side of the coin is that I really want to have another FS2000. My AKs have been sitting in the safe collecting dust for more than a year now. In fact, I haven't been shooting long guns much at all lately, but I think if I had another FS2000 then that might change as well.

So here's my list...

Pros:

- Would give me a backup to my new favorite long gun.

- May encourage me to shoot long guns more often.

- Would help me to consolidate my ammo calibers.

- Would further increase my mag interoperability.

- I would be the first kid on my block to have two FS2000s.

Cons:

- May take a while to sell my AKs to fund the FS2000.

- May lose some money on the AKs.

- Would mean advertising and selling two guns targeted by the BATFE in an area targeted by the BATFE.

- Wouldn't be able to say "I have an AK-47!" anymore.

So what do you guys think?

Depends on what AK's you have? Need more details.

How easy is it to get spare parts for an FS2000? Everything breaks eventually.

Don't do it.

#1.  Everyone needs at least one AK.  Ammo and mags are cheap and plentiful, guns can take a beating, parts are relatively easy to come by.

#2.  FS2000 might be a good gun, but parts are hard to come by (what I have heard).  Everything breaks eventually.

#3.  FS2000 looks like a sea bass.

I would keep ONE AK, 5 mags, and 1000rds 7.62 Russian.

Sell the rest of your AK setup to fund the second FS2000, and save up the rest over time until you hit your target.

Every collection should have an AK.

I really really really want an FS2000, it will be my next rifle purchase.

Buy what makes you happy.  Sell the AKs and buy the FS2k.

Take your time until you get the price you want.

More details would potentially be a problem in G.D.

ETA:  I would keep one AK.  Everyone should have one.   I don't even like AKs, and I have one.

I like the Keep One AK theory.

I built mine, so I have some extra attachment to it, but it is a handy rifle and stupid simple.

CDNN might still have their cheap FS2000s.

IMHO, ain't nothing wrong with consolidating on one platform.

Keep both AK's and keep the 1 FuckStick 2000 as a novelty rifle.

sell one AK and use proceeds to stock up on spare parts for the FS2000

Take the FS200 to a carbine class, then decide if you like it as much afterwards.
