| After a long, drawn out nightmare with Ascurion, they have finally processed my claim regarding an original Droid X and are shipping me an X2. Anybody have one? How does it compare to the original X? Thanks in advance. |

DX user here. IMHO, the DX2 isn't enough of an upgrade to justify a contract extension, seeing as how I'm on a DX. Sure, it's a nice device. Even nicer if you are coming from something like an Incredible/Original Droid/etc.
Alot of people raving about dual-core processing in mobile devices fail to understand that Android in its current form is not fully optimized for multi-threading/multi-processing, nor are most of the available apps. What is really happening is a faster drain on batteries because of the increased mAh draw. The boosts people are seeing right now are minor. Most of the bench tests being run show improved processing power simply because of higher clock cycles. That said, it will become the standard, given time. And when Android is is able to fully take advantage of all the new resources, it will be unlike anything else. The sad reality is that providers are forcing tons of bloatware and restricting access to certain features that were originally part of Android. Google has a great vision. AT&T/Sprint/Verizon are just looking for another way to make a buck, and so much is lost with this. This is why the hacking/modding community is flourishing. Simply avoiding MotoBlur and running a third party launcher like Launcher Pro will completely change the way a device feels. That's just one example. |

Buying cell phone insurance from your service provider?
Did they give you flowers? Did they kiss you first? Because they ARE fuqqing you in the arse. Talk to your homeowner's insurance agent (or renter's insurance agent). With a special "rider" I added my Droid X, my wifes Samsung and my son's Droid for an additional $54 per YEAR (about $4 month additional on HOI for all THREE phones with NO "co-pay" or deductible on riders. It covers all phones individually or all together for anything BUT termite damage. |
