Seems like a reasonable thing to do, actually, I'm surprised most stadiums didn't do this years ago in risky areas, due to the obvious liability.

There was actually a great article in the Dallas paper about the incident with the firefighter who died trying to grab a tossed ball:

Nolan Ryan had a news conference and specifically said they wouldn't change policy

The player who threw the ball also said it was a big part of the game and he'd want to keep doing it.

None of the typical cover your ass crap and nanny state rules put into place in no time.
