The man's got panache.

He starts out by decrying "far-right" as being offensive.  I'm thinking, "Okay...  I can sorta see that."
And then he spends the next five minutes calling people pricks.

I admire the gusto, and it doesn't hurt that he's right, of course, but I think his argument is lacking a certain... internal consistency.

"Far-right" has a different inference over here than in the US.  Over here "Far-Right" refers to the Neo-Nazi, Ultra Right Wing Racists.  I know there is a different perception in the US and it has been the source of many a discussion on ARFCOM, but rest assured his intent in using the "Far-Right" expression is bang on in terms of European political movements and not a critique of the LIbertarian political doctrine.  The desire for freedom and political autonomy is not a far right trait. From our perspective It's actually a reasonable and moderate view to want less governance and more personal independence.

National Socialism (Nazism) is a misnoma in many respects as it is often viewed and considered only by it's name. The Third Reich used the brand of national socialism to gain power and mobilise the German people with the ultimate goal of gaining autonomy from the socialists of Europe who brokered the Treaty of Versailles and were milking Germany of everything they could.  What intially started out as a national socialist movement aimed at restoring power to Germany through state sponsored development programmes quickly morphed into a moderate right wing fight for independence from the cripling socialist Euroleeches surrounding them.  Of course it then continued to become the monster it was through the dispicable acts of warfare and genocide.  Extreme left and Extreme right wing politics always result in intollerance, war and genocide.

The desire for freedom and political autonomy is not a far right trait. From our perspective It's actually a reasonable and moderate view to want less governance and more personal independence.

Similarly the UK now is seeing a growing movement of anger against the Europhiles in Brussels.  This is being seen as a depart from the socialist European experiment of recent decades and a move to more right wing politics.  It's a phenomenon being seen across Northern Europe.  Thiose who support the break away from the socialist movement in Europe, like myself are often seen as right wing because we want to look after our own country first.  We are branded as racists, selfish, isolationist and xernophobic by the extreme left in an effort to paint us as the bad guys, when all we want to do is get our own house in order and repair the damage done by the socialists, before helping others do the same.

It's a difficult one to explain but I hope you get that the US political system and UK/European Political system do have some quite different characteristics.

I can understand that.

I'm just saying, responding to slander with more slander is, occasionally, unintentionally hilarious.

"You're an asshole for calling me an asshole!"

He does have a unique style in getting their attention.  With people as thick skinned and dumb as liberals you sometimes have to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut
