My 16 year old son has friends at school that are girls. ( Not girlfriends just classmates). They are getting upset all the time over vacuous inane teenage crap. I guess it's important to them in their reality.
I told my son that this is the equivalent of what we would call "Hen cackling"  if they were older women. Just listen politely until you can get the heck out of there.
