They weren't the same without Roger Waters, but I even liked their later stuff.

Comfortably numb is still my favorite song of all time.  If I could learn one guitar solo in my life that would be it.

The first time I saw Pink Floyd live was at the Super Bowl of Rock at Soldier Field in Chicago in 1977.  Their new album was Animals.  It was a great show!

I saw the Wall in 82 at a theater in Florida. I didn't appreciate it then but I do now.

Their greatest song...

Can you tell a green field... from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil?

"Hey ah, Dave, we got Syd here, he's ah, well his behaviour is a bit worrysome, you see, and ah, we were wondering if you would like to come along and play a little 'second guitar' for us, you know."

Best decision ever.

I know it's so, but I can't imagine how anybody couldn't like Pink Floyd..I'm 27 and everytime I hear the beginning to "Wish You Were Here" I get goose bumps.....

It saddens me to think I will never have the pleasure of witnesses PF or Zeppelin.....I was born 30 years late

27 also. It's pretty sad their egos get in the way. If the three of them would get back together for a full show I would pay dearly to see it.

I agree with you 100% on that.

I usually tack a song to a girl and it sticks.  Everytime I hear a song play, I shit you not I think of them.  Even after 20 years, it takes me back to that time and that girl.  Wish You Were Here was a short haired brunette in Wichita KS.  Beautiful girl and an interesting time in my life.

Not unusual. I'm one of those weird ones that never did any drugs at all and still love Pink Floyd  I think "The Final Cut" doesn't get enough credit....

One of my favorites is "Free Four"...which I can't find a youtube of that's not a random guy singing

Lyrics:

The memories of a man in his old age

Are the deeds of a man in his prime.

You suffle in gloom in the sickroom

And talk to yourself till you die.

Life is a short, warm moment

And death is a long cold rest.

You get your chance to try

In the twinkling of an eye:

Eighty years, with luck, or even less.

So all aboard for the American tour,

And maybe you'll make it to the top.

And mind how you go.

I can tell you, because I know.

You may find it hard to get off.

You are the angel of death

And I am the dead man's son.

And he died like a mole in a fox hole.

And everyone is still in the run.

And who is the master of fox hounds?

And who says the hunt has begun?

And who calls the tune in the courtroom?

And who beats the funeral drum?

The memories of a man in his old age

Are the deeds of a man in his prime.

You suffle in gloom in the sickroom

And talk to yourself till you die.

Pink Floyd: nihilistic leftist agitprop. Or are you so mesmerized you can't see the real message?

There we go, a hater, but true statement. Although there would be very little good music if it wasn't for drugged up lefty nihilist hippies.

You need to get all of Roger Waters' Solo Albums.

I have all Floyd Albums, both pre split, and post split, as well as DVDs.

On this topic, a moment of silence for Eric The Hun.

I can't get enough of Pink Floyd.

I heard the usual popular songs of theirs while I was in high school but never really dug in until a year or two later.  Even now, there is a lot of material that I haven't heard from a few of their albums.  DSOTM, The Wall, Division Bell and Animals are the only albums that I've listened to through and through.  Also have the Pulse DVD.

No one can make a guitar talk like Gilmour.

Wha?

I mean.....as a lyricist, Waters is phenomenal...

I hate his FIXATION on being some blowhard anti war douchebag.....but he actually likes guns and hunting and was a former competitive smallbore shooter in his Military School ( ROTC ) days....so I can't hate him TOOOO much.

Syd....Syd was brilliant....and a schizophrenic, essentially.  I mean....c'mon...HOW CAN YOU HATE "BIRDIE HOP"?

He do!!!

He hop along!!!!
