WONDER WHY OUR COUNTRY IS BROKE???
The bread winner in the family....interesting!

Bread Winner...
I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning.  He told me that a woman in her 20s came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy.  She stated, "my momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family."
He asked her to explain.   She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family.   It goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children.   DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care.

The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in  Illinois .
Total yearly income:
$144,000 tax-free, not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid) plus a monthly card entitling her to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month.  This does not even include WIC and other welfare programs Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the "breadwinner"  for the family.

This is how the ruling class spends our tax dollars.

Is this a GREAT COUNTRY or what...
Don't forget to pay your taxes!!!

There are a lot of Breadwinners depending on you & me

I'm not going to actually call you a liar or ignorant but, I am going to ask you to prove that a person can make an eighth of a million dollars a year by taking on a foster child.

ETA: I mean, think about it, wouldn't it just make more sense for all of us to never work again and just spit out crotch fruit and take care of each other's children.

Last I checked there were only about 18 million families on "some" form of governemnt assistance. Don't you think if your story had a kernel of truth to it that all of them would be wealthy beyond their dreams and living in Cabo after a few years?

I don't know what your household finances look like but, 144K X 8 is more money than most people will see in 20 years. Hell, my wife and I are trained and experienced professionals working in "decent" positions in out field and we don't quite make that combined.

8 foster children, 1500*8 a month, *12 = 144,000.

Do you really get 1500 a month for a child?  Do they really let one person keep 8 children?  Do they really pay you money for keeping your own grandchildren?

You must have missed the part of the OP where he said it was her eighth child.

8 kids * $1500 per kid per month * 12 months in a year = $144K.

I worked a case in Tulsa about 11-12 years ago where a grandmother was running a subsidized daycare from her home. All of the children she cared for were children of welfare recipients. All of her income came in weekly direct deposits from the state into her personal account.

She cared for 6 children at about $100 per week per child...

...wait for it...

...you know the punchline...

ALL OF THE KIDS WERE HER OWN GRANDKIDS!

and then, when it couldn't get any more ludicrous...she applies to take on 2 more kids (her own grandkids of course) so the state DHS sends out an inspector to make sure that she had enough adult employees to care for additional children.

She listed her own two adult daughters (the mothers of the children...) as her employees BECAUSE THE STATE IS NOT ALLOWED TO DIVULGE THE LAST NAMES OF THE CHILDREN ON ANY DHS SUBSIDIZED DAYCARE PAPERWORK!!! The DHS inspectors could not tell who the children belonged to...just that their parents were welfare recipients!

BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER!!!

The DHS inspectors disqualified grandma's two adult daughters as daycare workers BECAUSE BOTH OF THEM WERE CONVICTED FELONS and thus were unqualified to provide daycare services to their very own kids.

Grandma took all the money that she scammed from DHS and used it to buy the other houses, one at a time as the opportunities arose, on her own block as they were condemned and auctioned for back-due taxes. After a few years she owned the whole damn city block (in da hood, of course) and then she put a fence around the entire compound.

Your tax dollars at work. I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.

Illinois does indeed pay for "Subsidized Guardianship" to relative caregivers...

I used to work in the foster care industry in Texas. Many (MANY) agencies make sure the kids get their medical and dental checkups - and not much else.

When you subsidize something, you get more of it.

I see generations of families whose only known way to increase their income is to have another kid.

People who are dependent on the government teat vote Democrat. That was the plan all along.

I'm a foster parent and we receive about $300 per month, per child.  They are also on medicaid and daycare is paid for if needed.

The system is set up in a way that makes fraud and abuse pretty easy.  This story doesn't surprise me at all, except I think the numbers have been exaggerated.

I just looked it up on Google Earth. They've got a lovely street view of the property. God, I'd love to publish the lat/lon here but I'd probably get my ass sued.

I also think the numbers may have been exaggerated, however, this is the email that I recieved and I thought I would share with AR15.com and see what everybody thought.
