Who here keeps one?

Aside from a fighting knife?

I prefer them to fighting knives.

Atleast I can put them on my rifle and increase my reach.

My favorites

A KABAR conversion

The OKC3s marine current issue

OKC 3ft tanto blade.

the classic m7 this is a suprisingly simple and great bayonet/knife.

There is one fellow here with a nickle 14 in swiss k31 parade bayonet converted to fit ARs it is beautiful

Maybe but if you had a bayonet and use it quickly you can turn it into a learning expereince.

This way of thinking miffs me.  As AR owners we fought for the bayonet lug and distain the nutered ban style yet few own what this is intended for.  A bayonet cost like $40 and is tacticool as hell but are shunned here while full power over priced IR lasers are seen as the grail around here.  Once again jsut a comment on the fashonista aspect of the sight.

My favorite C&R bayonet is the sawback mauser butcher blade my favorite US C&R is the KRAG.

Nice..I just have one for my M1.
5/31/2011 12:03:29 PM EDT
[#8]
I've got some.

One for my Garand.
One for my retro AR.
One "modern" AR bayonet (M9)
One really long one for my WW1 SMLE
And one for my Martini-Henry

.. oh, and I got an AK bayonet included when I bought my cheap AK

Hmm - listing them, I realize I have more bayonets than I thought I did.

If you have a firearm with a mounting point for a bayonet, and you dont have a bayonet to mount...

You are a failure.

I've got a few, but remember bayonets are damn near useless against zombies.

I'm sure anyone who owns a mosin has them to.

I have 3 for my 91/30's and the one attached to my m44. Need to find some for my Finnish mosins.

My C&R's have bayo's.

The M48BO and 91/30 have capable blades/spikes, the No.4 MKII only has a short spike but's its enough.

Not only, do I not give a shit if my carbine has a bayonet lug.. I don't own a single AR with one.. I have shot quit a few that had them and they didn't shoot any better then the ones without..

My M1 carbine has a lug but I don't have a bayonet for it Don't care too either..

I have a 10" UFH for my M1 Garand. But said Garand was made in early 1942, so I need to find me a proper 16" M1942 bayonet for that baby.

My AR has a bayonet lug, but the reach from the lug to the flash hider is too long, due to the non-milspec barrel length/handguard combo. It's like a vestigial limb, at this point.

My SKS has a folder, my 98Ks each have one, and my SMLE No.1 Mk III has the applicable ridiculously-long bayonet/sword hybrid. The damn thing is almost as tall as I am with the bayonet fixed.

KILL KILL KILL!!!

I love bayonets.  They never run out of ammo, you can practice in your basement, they come in handy when you're eating steak...

I really want one of the ZT-9 Bayos.  S30V Bayonet?  Hellz yeah.  Sadly, for $200, there are quite a few things ahead of it in the queue.

Now that we have pics of bayonets, does anyone have one that's sharpened to the point that it's useful as a knife? The only sharp bayonets I have ever seen had been sharpened within the last year or so, by owners who didn't know what they were doing to the value, or in the case of one a friend of mine has, they're foreign copies with little or no value anyway.

That's what I was thinking.  In the post apocalyptic wasteland, when I go to Bartertown for women and wares, I will affix bayonet to prod my way through the beggars and miscreant street urchins.  Shooting them would just cause trouble, but nobody wants to get poked, with purpose or incidentally, by 10" of sharp steel.

M9 on Mosberg 590 is my HD shotgun.  My apt is small enough that a bayonet just might be useful.  Tackikitty is for early warning. She stands up and looks around every time someone is in the hallway.

The M9 is brand new, and quite sharp. Though the edge seems a bit easy to ding.  The bayonet is usually on the shotgun.

I don't remember where, but some guy who was on the ground in Iraq mentioned that being dismounted with bayonets intimidated the crap out of the locals, where just dismounted with rifles not so much. I assume an angry naked man defending his apartment with a 12 gauge and bayonet would be equally off-putting.

I've got the usual US bayonets, a correct FN-49 long Venezuelan bayonet, the usual Enfield bayonets, and Dad's Arisaka bayonet from Guadalcanal.  The only desirable ones I don't have are the long US Springfield bayonet and the correct "pioneer" bayonet for the 1911 Schmidt-Rubin.

an Arisaka like his (mine now) from the web:

he had an Arisaka with the bayonet breaker loop, but it belonged to another guy he finally tracked down almost 60 years later and returned it to him:  (I didn't get to inherit that one)

long FN-49 Venezuelan bayonet

the very odd no. 7 bayonet for the no. 4 rifle (modified jungle carbine bayonet)

I want one of these Schmidt-Rubin bayonets very badly:  (too $$)

the pioneer bayonet on a 1906/1911 rifle would reach even further than this:  (reach into next block?)

I don't know, I got an M9 to go with my SHTF kit, figured it would make a great utility knife and maaaybe might come in handy fixed on the AR if I had to walk someone off the property. Say I catch someone in the garden stealing tomatoes, don't want to shoot them just prod 'em along and I would imagine it would be a good deterrent from trying to grab the barrel and take the gun from me.

They are a very rugged knife and come with a great sheath. What's not to like?

I have one for my AK.

I can't fit one on my AR since it has a muzzle device to mount a can.

If it can take a bayonet it has one. Except I have just acquired a Carcano and a M95 Mauser. Don't have the sharp pointy sticks for those two yet.

My Mausers, Enfields, Mosin Nagants, AR-15s, and other fun toys. If it goes bang and has a mounting point. It gets a pointy blade.
