NPR Story on Jim Nabors About 300,000 people are expected at the Indiana Motor Speedway on Sunday to watch the 8795th Indy 500. And before the green flag, right before "Gentlemen, start your engines," Jim Nabors — yes, Jim Nabors — will sing "Indiana," just as he has almost every year since 1972. Why is this song — before this race — as sentimental to some Midwesterners as the singing of "My Old Kentucky Home" before the derby? Commentator Bob Cook thinks he has an answer.

I'll be in the Southeast Vista (turn 2) at indy Sunday. I will wave to you on the TV.  Make sure you keep all off your paper and plastic wrappers on your person. I do not want the race to be held up due to 'debris on the track'...  
No, the debris in the short shoot between 1 and 2 on the first lap will be the right side wheels off Danica's car.
Th sad thing is that I can probably name more drivers from 1972 than I can who are on the grid for Sunday.
