I tried to go to bed two nights ago at midnight. I didn't feel sleepy until 4. I woke up at noon. I tried to go to sleep at 10. Slept maybe half an hour. Then got up, ate some more chili, went to bed. Gave up, surfed arfcom, and now it is dawn and I am not in the least bit sleepy. I think I'm just going to try and stay awake today and go to bed at a reasonable hour. I have never slept well. My mind simply does not "shut down." I have tried benedryl, melatonin, a splash of bourbon, push ups, etc. I start work and summer school on Monday. I have to break out of the summer sleep schedule, or lack there of. Any advice? I have no desire to be prescribed sleeping pills. ![]() Also, as far as caffeine goes, I have reduced consumption a lot. I'm now down to about 8 cups a day. I was at 24 cups a day three weeks ago. |

I'm thinking that the chili is factoring in here. My thought as well. ate some more chili
So you ate some before, couldn't sleep and then ate some more? Eating some rancid stuff and then going to sleep is not a good idea. Your coffee intake should be reduced to 1 cup in the morning too and see how that works. |

I was struggling with sleep and only running on 3-4 cups of coffee or sodas. I have cut back to one cup of coffee in the morning, one soda at supper. Some days I just have the one cup in the morning and I have increased my water intake. Melotonin works for me, but I see you have already gone that route. Have you tried St. Johns Wart? If I am having problems slowing down the stuff running in my head I'll take one in the evening and it helps me mellow out. With the amount of java you are taking in you would probably need to take two with a full glass of water.
Lack of sleep is not good. Hopefully you can find something that works. |
