I've been searching for a quick-open safe online that I could store my newly acquired Glock in when I'm not carrying it. I've been looking at safes and reading reviews on Amazon and it seems like everything they list either has problems with battery life or they're easy to "break"-in.
What do you guys have/recommend? |

Fort Knox handgun safe. Fort Knox
No batteries, heavy construction.

How quick do you need it to open? Something like a Sentry V330, bolted down, its tough to get into. The gap on mine is less than 1/16" of an inch all around the door and its VERY hard to get a tool in there to pry open the door. Its not considered "quick open", but I can dial in the combo in less than 5 seconds. The key stays in unless I'm out of town. If you need something with faster access than that, you probably want a gunvault. http://www.gunvault.com/handgun-safes/microvault.html |

I started off looking at a Gunvault but batteries were an issue for me. The Gunvault takes I think 8 AA batteries and putting them in didn't look like fun. The V-Line like the Fort Knox safe pictured above has no batteries. You can set the lock to open with your own code. You have to lift the top rather than a door popping open but that was a trade off I was willing to accept. |
