| Which would you prefer? Magpul or Otterbox or something else. Please enlighten which other case you run. Phone in question is a 3GS. |

Griffin Technology case... I had the Otterbox but the rubber was starting to tear off and didnt stay in the holes, bought the Griffin Technology "milspec" case and it is way better but is also larger.

I drank the Kool-Aid and got the el-cheapo Mag-Pul case for my iPhone 4. The first few days were great! It started out fitting nice and tight, it came up around the sides to keep the screen a bit protected, access to controls and everything was well placed and user friendly... About day five it started getting more and more loose. After about two or three weeks it would hardly stay on the phone. I pitched it in the trash and have had an Otterbox Defender case for the past few weeks. I'll never get any other kind of case again. They are super expensive, but well worth the cash.
ETA: Damn, I hadn't seen that Griffin case before getting the Otterbox. If/when this wears out, I might give that a try. Carrying around an iPhone while on duty at the fire station is pretty darned rough on the case. |

I have the Otterbox. Its been 6 months and no sign of wear. I'm in the building trade so I'm not gentle. I pulled the cover off and the phone was as clean as when I put the cover on. I was surprised at how sleek the phone is. With the Otterbox, its like a brick. I have to use the belt clip, no way it will fit comfortably in my pocket. Thats the only downside for me. |

Carrying around an iPhone while on duty at the fire station is pretty darned rough on the case. We had some weird issues with the first cases released. Anyone having these issues should contact us and we will replace the case pronto. FYI the Magpul case is not designed for the same mission as the Otterbox. The Magpul is a very low profile basic protection case that allows you to hold onto the phone securely but without the bulk that would stop you from putting the phone in your pocket (or pulling out the whole pocket when you remove it) Otterbox and true waterproof cases like Pelican are what we consider "expedition" type cases that give up compactness for protection. |
