"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"
Do people really believe this shit? |

Civics lesson
DIZZY: My mother always says that violence never solves anything. RASCZAK: Really? I wonder what the city fathers of Hiroshima would have to say about that. You. CARMEN: They probably wouldn't say anything. Hiroshima was destroyed. RASCZAK: Correct. Naked force has settled more issues in history than any other factor. The contrary opinion 'violence never solves anything' is wishful thinking at its worst. People who forget that always pay... They pay with their lives and their freedom. |

My liberal sister put this up on her facebook: ‎"Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~The Rev Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I responded with a few choice quotes of my own: We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm. Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil. An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile — hoping it will eat him last. We all dream of a world of sunshine, happiness, and peace. The problem is...half of people think it sounds like a wonderful place to live, the other half think it sounds like a wonderful place to pillage. |

I hate to say this, but I agree with the statement.
Before I get flamed, do not think that I mean that violence is always wrong. In war, you must do what needs to be done to protect your citizens and you borders. What I mean is outright vengeance. This rarely ever works. Beat the enemy then stop. I am torn on the OB thing. I would rather have killed him in battle than the way we did it. That said, I am not sure there was any other way with him. He was a combatant and we are at war, but vengeance for it's own sake is a loosing hand. |

The Liberals are passing that shit around, and it has come out that isn't even one of MLK's quotes. |

Did you expect to see him shot off the top of his black horse while he was leading a formation of Al Quaeda into battle? |

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

John Stuart Mill

|

There's another one that's getting thrown around about not celebrating even an enemy's death, and that's the fake one. ETA: Citation, it's from his book "Strength to Love", chapter 5. |
