| My uncle sold a mid seventies, maybe 70 or 74 IHC 4x4 pickup to his father in law. His father in law hasn't paid it yet and I heard about that today. The running gear is good, but the motor is shot. It has positraction which I believe is lockers front and rear (which is an additional good thing about getting this IHC).I have a 1984 Ford F250 with the Dana 50 ttb front and dana 60 or 70 rear. I am wanting a solid front axle in a bad way for my Ford. So I am thinking of buying the truck and swapping the axles over onto my Ford. Will this conversion work? |

Someone may come and prove me wrong but I am pretty sure that the International will have passenger side drop transfercase and the differential will also be on that side......Fords usually have a driver side drop. Sorry, but the swap won't work....... I didn't even contemplate that, this is why I love this place. Damn that sure sucks. All I know is that when 4x4 is engaged there is power going to all four wheels. We referenced this "powrlock" system (not posi as I said earlier, by jacking up four corners and power turned all 4 wheels. It really sucks it would have Dana 44's I don't really even know if it would be better than my Dana 50 TTB setup. |

I believe IH set up there front axles with very little to no caster - not exactly sure how the entire front end geometry is set-up but it could be a problem that might need to be investigated.
I'm not sure I'd do a solid axle swap for a D44 in a 3/4 ton truck. What brakes are on the IH front axle? Brian |

In any case, I may as well just stick to my Dana 60 plan and hope that works out. |
