Well I went and got a virus of some sort. I have been using AVG and it did not detect it. I keep getting a new tab opening up saying that I won an IPAD and click here to claim it. I am not stupid enough to click on any thing on that page. When I try to close the tab I keep getting more messages telling me I won. After several attempts it will finally close.
Also if I do a google search on any any subject and click on any link google comes up with it directs me to another search engine or shopping site. I tried to go to Maleware bytes and keep getting directed to other stuff that is not even close to what I want. So then I typed Malewarebytes.org in the URL line and got to what I believe is their site. After I click on download it takes me to MajorGeeks.com or something like that and tries to down load M-bam.exe or something like that. I do not trust this to be what I want. So Arfcom with all your great wisdom tell me what to do. Thanks. |

It doesn't sound like a virus. It's likely malware.
Go to malwarebytes.org and download their tool. Install it, update it, reboot into safe mode and run it. The chances are very good you will have no further issues. ETA: the majorgeeks site is the right one mbam.exe is the file you want. You have nothing to fear. |

I tried that but it takes me to majorgeeks.com. Is this right? Is M-bam.exe the file I want? |
