I pack an FT-2900R and an 8 amp hour gel cell.  I used to take my Ft-817 before my sister toasted the charging circuit.  I will take a VX-150 if I KNOW there will be good repeater coverage.

... possibly, if one finds oneself stranded in the local hamfest parking lot and can't get the hoverround ham-a-bout off the hitch mount.
