I'd probably look at Justins. Or maybe Ariats. thank you Mr. Obvious. has your dishwasher quit working lately by chance? Lol. Sorry. I couldn't help it. But I have been considering a pair of square toe Ariats as well, for what it's worth. They are both good brands. I currently have a pair of Frye boots. They're okay, but probably out of the price range you mentioned. |

Link No real complaints. I've probably had them 5 years or so. I wear them pretty often, but no real abuse. They've held up fine. But I wouldn't necessarily say they are better quality than the brands you listed. I honestly think in your price range, you won't go wrong with any of the big name brands. Just find a style you like, try them on, and take the plunge if they feel good. |

I was on the same quest you are about six months ago. I ended up with a pair of Tony Lama's. I wanted traditional leather soled and made in the states. Both Justin and Tony Lama still make some of their boots in TX. For any given size Tony Lama's have a better (higher) arch and are tighter through the instep/ankle. Quality was better. I sent two pair of Justin's back for defects. The Tony Lama's have been great. Break in was short, arch support is the best I've ever had in a boot. (Been wearing Justin's for 30+ years.) Link below to the boots I purchased and online vendor I found with best pricing. They just take orders. The boots were drop shipped from factory. Service was good.
Tony Lama Boots
If you've never worn boots before(or even if you have), do yourself a favor and try on a pair one size larger and one step narrower than your street shoe size. Biggest mistake first time boot wearers make is buying them too short and too wide. J |

thank you all for the help, and for the sarcasm. still not sure what im gonna do, but its made for a bit more interesting evening bb Hey, no problem. I cannot really offer any real help though. The last boots I had were in ostrich skin and made by Tony Lama. They lasted for about 6 years, which was 3 years past their trendiness date. |

my wife is a justin and ariat dealer. she and many customers agree that the ariats are more comfy. i have a pair of steel toe double H's that I wear everyday. they are better than my justin tekno creeps. i only wear those while riding.
but i won't wear square toes. my wife looks good in them though.
