Have any of you used either (or both) of these firearm inventory programs? If so, any recommendations? Pros/cons? NM Collector - Firearms Inventory Softare or Burnsoft - My Gun Collection Software They are both relatively inexpensive ($20 for NM Collector and $15 for Burnsoft). I currently keep my stuff in a three ring binder, but want to 'modernize'. Thanks in advance. |

Guys, I know I could use a spreadsheet, but embedding photos and linking assorted accessories that go with a particular rifle is not going to happen in Excel. Like I said, I currently have it all on paper in a binder. I tried to download GunSafe before it was taken off-line but, for some reason, couldn't get it to run on my system. I've since changed computers and can't try that one now. |

Quoted: Spreadsheet. This. I use separate sheets in an Excel workbook for rifles, shotguns, handguns, black powder, airguns, and Sold/Traded. Each sheet has a header row with column labels for Action Type, Model, Manufacturer/Importer, Caliber, Barrel Length, Serial Number, and Comments. You could add when/where bought/sold and price information to the other sheets. |

Everytime I pick out an inventory program, and start using it, the maker takes it down, stops supporting it, etc. I finally decided to just create an excel spreadsheet, and made another tab with a data sheet to print off for a 3 rings binder that is my failsafe in case all the computer info is lost somehow. I have fields for mfg, model, s/n, etc ... also have fields for scope, acessories, load, etc. And my printed sheet on each gun has a graphic of the Leupold Zeropoint scale for the scoped rifles, I can record zero on this for each rifle, also can record the load that each rifle is zeroed with (handload or factory). I keep the printed records in a binder and a backup CD with the computer data in a pocket on the cover of the binder. So far it works great for me, and the only thing I don't have is pics of each gun. But that would be easy enough to add to the backup CD. |

Actually it is very easily to add links to parts, embed images, etc in almost any spreadsheet whether it is Open Office, Excel, LibreOffice, or google docs.
Personally I use an excel sheet for my firearms and a google doc for ammo so that I can update it on the fly when I shoot, or pick up more ammo. |

I found him a really nice guy and is a C&R holder himself. I remember he was really proud of his daughter joining the Navy and being Honor Grad of her training class. |
