Any android experts on here?
I have an HTC HD2 that I'm trying to put android onto. I've been trying all weekend and I guess it's just beyond me. I've picked out the ROM I want from xda-developers but I can't figure out how to even download the stupid thing. I'm ready to give up. Anyone on here have the knowledge to walk me through this? Thanks |

Since I'm not familiar with that phone a quick check shows it runs the windows OS.
I'm looking for an easy one to instal, stable and no bloat for ya now. Holy crap, that's pretty convoluted to get it on there, looks like the easiest method is to instal a dual boot program and run android off the SD card. Good topic here that will walk you through it, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958 ETA putting Android on your phone is not impossible but it's going to be a bit more of a challenge than the standard root, instal CWM and run custom roms. Read that post that I just put up there and if the terms they use seem like Swahili to you this may be a bit more than you can handle without setting aside some serious time for educational purposes. |

Looking a little deeper it doesn't look so bad,
You need this program in Winmo, exceller bootloader And then a rom put on the root of a formatted external SD card. If you can understand what I just wrote you can probably handle it, if anything is not fully understandable in those two sentences, I'd probably pass if I were you. |

Wait, a WIndows phone you're trying to put Android on? I hang out at XDA quite a bit; but I try not to delve into things I know nothing about. Some of this stuff is pretty advanced. It's actually gotten common since the first of the year. Dozens of ROMs have been written specifically for the HD2. For example here is a page listing 55 ROMs for the HD2. http://android.hd2roms.com/ |

I can understand what you just wrote. I'm having trouble with downloading the ROM I want. I end up going around in circles and not downloading anything. Getting frustrated. I guess I'll move on to a different ROM. |

It's the most unstable thing I've ever tried to use. I'm not a Microsoft basher but damn, this thing sucks. |

I put Android on my HTC Tilt I, but only as a dual-boot. It was a piece of cake, and didn't make any real changes to the Windows ROM. I suggest you do that, or just get an Android phone.
I have a dedicated Android phone, now, from Virgin Mobile. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The best education post to help you understand what you are trying to do,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813434 But read the first post in this one first, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790095 I would definitely go with the dual boot method if it was me and then I'd use this rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652 Keep posting question as you read up, ARFCOM is always a helpful bunch and then when you understand the whole process front to back, give it a shot. It doesn't appear by trying the dual boot method you'll screw up the existing winmo installation. |

Guess I need some more studying. |

Your probably going to want to go this way anyway, it'll make it easy to format, partition and put the folders you'll need to make it as painless as possible. It looks like you just have to instal the bootloader program on winmo ( after you make sure you phone has the proper build and radio on it ) set up you SD card on your computer and pop it back in the phone, turn it on follow the prompts and be patient while it does it's thing ( at least 5 min to first boot by one post I read ). |
