for the life of me, i cannot find any threads/sections about building your own home range and backstop, etc. can anyone point me in the right direction? |

When my father built his we used rail road ties tires and sand.. 3 sides 10 feet tall. The tire were filled with sand. Wich made easy a yearly gathering of lead bullets for casting recycling.
For sound deadening when sighting in rifles he took a 55 gal drum cut 12 inch circles top and bottom ,cut a hatch with a door in one side, then lined the the "chamber" hole to hole with a cylinder made of rolled no climb fencing. He then filled the barrel with those styrofoam packing peanuts. and place the drum on a XX frame in front of the shooting bench. rifle barrel would be on the inside of the barrel at time of trigger pull great sound deadener. When he sold the place it was a simple take down with a front loader, through some dirt down and let the Kudzu do its thing. |
