OK,
I heard this one the other day, anyone got a good explanation for this? 3 men stay at a hotel that costs $25 per night. The front desk accidentally charges the men $30 for the room ($10 per person). The front desk clerk feels bad, so he gives the bellboy $5 and says to split it between the men. The bellboy gives each man $1 back and pockets $2. Each man payed $10 initially. Bellboy gave back $1 to each 10-1= 9 each man payed $9 for the room 9 * 3 = 27 27 + 2(in the bellboy's pocket) = 29 Where is the other dollar? |

Go back to math class. |

I feel like an idiot, but it makes me feel better that some of the other people who were around when this was told were electrical engineers. They didn't get it either. I guess if I thought about it some I probably would have figured it out. I went the easy route and asked GD. |

The problem is that you are changing the premise halfway through it. They paid $30 for the rooms. The $5 back means they paid $25 for the rooms as a whole. They got back $3 and the bellboy kept $2. $25 + $3 +$2 = $30. jd1 Yeah, it's all in the way it's told that's confusing. |

They paid $30 They got $3 back = $27 They tipped $2 = $2925 WRONG They paid $30 They got $3 back = $27 The bellboy kept $2 = $25 $25 is how much the room cost. LMAO oops, I added instead of subtracted. Let this be a lesson not to drink and post. |
