We are looking to relocate to Colorado. We have been mainly looking at Fort Collins, Greely and possibly Denver. I am retired/disabled LE (still very young, 43), I collect a pension, and can work part time (my disability has to approve my jobs). My girlfriend is a teacher, so we are looking for work for her (high school and college). Public high schools seem to pay more, she has a Doctorate degree in Education. The jobs seem slim these days, however now is the time that contracts are given out.
She has been relentless on the job sights, just waiting it out. If anyone has any thoughts on locations, recommendations, etc, please share. We love to hike with our dogs, shoot, all that kind of stuff. We also love the snow, well, I do Thanks again. |

I like my Colo Spgs........ No, I haven't, I never knew of this, thank you. My injury happened in 2002, I am curious as to time frame. Yes, I have heard good stuff about Colorado Springs. As of now, my girlfriend teaches full time at a high school, and 2 part time gigs at 2 local colleges. So if she can land a full time job at a high school, this would be great, the others can fall into place, if need be. She has to be careful about pay cut, because they base her retirement on the last years of service (I believe). I work part time as a Vet Assistant, so my search won't be so bad. I order stuff for my dogs from Ray Allen K-9, I am thinking they are in your neck of the woods. |

Well, I had to fight the County for my Work Comp, so that took more than 3 yrs, so I had to apply for a filing extension appeal, on the grounds that the county was defendant litigant in my case. Most departments aren't familiar with the program applying to LE/First Responders totally/permanently disable in the line of duty. Shoot me an IM, I'll give you the direct email to the current director of the program.....she'll tell you if its been too long or to do the same I had to do. Its $265,000 grant plus lifetime education benefits for self, spouse and dependents, that is one big weight off your shoulders, trying to provide and all.......we go from being the A Type Supermen to, well, what we deal with now, depression sets in, self-doubt, all kinds of rotten thoughts........but, having your kids college paid goes a long ways towards feeling adequate....... My first GSD, Rocky Turbo's Pride was used in one of Ray Allen's training vids, my ol' buddy was one awesome dawg.... They have a warehouse/customer service center in Colo Spgs about 2kms from my house..... |

Stoner, I posted some pics in the security pet section of my crew, I have 3 Shepherds (German, Czech and Dutch).
I actually had thought of applying at Ray Allen if we landed in Colorado Springs. Do you have any GSD's now? Skier, I fly under the Radar, and yes there will be an R vote |

My Shebah-Sue is a big baby, alerts to anybody that comes by, won't let anybody in my room, so, she does her job......she's just mellow, was abused and passed around as a pub, her self-esteem was shit when I got her, some would have considered her a ruined dog...just raise your voice, she would go fetal and piss all over herself.......took me months, over a year of treats and some behavior modification on my part, too. |
