So I am building a small chalkboard table for my girl....

I used magnetic primer so her magnetic letters will stick....
Then I used Lowe's brand (Valspar) chalkboard paint...

I let applied 4 coats and let dry 24 hours (now 48), rubbed the surface with chalk and wiped with a damp cloth as directed....
The chalk gouges the chalkboard paint

Is there a better brand out there?

I'd let that paint cure for a little longer before I'd wet it or mark it.

What's wrong with a dry erase board?

4 year old and dry erase markers???
Chalk is easy to clean off a 4 year old....and it's cheap...

If you have enough paint to do a second one let it cure for 3-4 days before doing anything to it.

Dry =/= Cured

Looks like it needs 3 days, I would make it 5-6
