WTF?
all those past years of awesome content, now all they show is re-runs of the past couple years of lame, wore out "reality" bullshit. History Channel (and others) used to be that way as well, but I don't get all those anymore

I love DSC Science and History International.
Discovery still produces some great shows however today's market is more tuned into drama/reality based shows rather than the more traditional shows such as The Universe, The Planets, and similar. Nat Geo produces some great stuff, much of which is avail on Netflix Instant. |
While I do enjoy Ax Men and Top Shot, History channel went full
They need middle ground playing documentaries all day about tank combat in WW1 and Hitler got old fast, but now it's reality shows, History Channel: MODERATION is what you need, bring back some news tales of the gun and some other good stuff that is not WW2 all the time. |

Try watching DIY. A few shows are genuinely informative, some others give good ideas but don't get into enough details, and then there is a giant pile of Renovation Realities, Marriage under Construction, Renovation Rookies, Turf War, and other "drama" crap that is a waste of videotape. I like the how-to shows that don't even show the homeowner. They aren't who I'm tuning in to see. I want to hear from the landscaping expert or the woodworking expert or the plumbing expert on how to actually do something, not some whiny housewife yelling at her husband because they can't afford the kitchen tiles she wants. |

I find myself watching more and more of the local 'oldies' channel... TV shows from the 60's-80's
I'd rather watch stuff I've seen years ago vs this recent "reality" BS to paraphrase Pink Floyd... 115 channels of shit on the TV to choose from
eta: this is just for shit that is going on in the back ground... when I sit down to watch something, it's usually a DVD/BRD or Netflix. I've ditched the TV for the most part today and am enjoying my vast collection of music.... shoulda done that long ago. |

When you have 250+ channels to fill you either need to rerun shit or film new shit in order to fill airtime to sell advertising slots. Every day Netflix's streaming service is looking better and better but I would need to buy a $100 media box for that service and that's going to look like shit on a CRT TV. |

Honestly, I've been streaming shit off the internet lately, and have barely turned my TV on in the last month or two. Kind of sucks watching TV shows and movies on a 24" monitor but it sure beats spending three hours flipping through the channels trying to find something watchable. |

I got rid of cable completely 6 months ago. I went from a full cable package to a TV with no digital antenna. Now all I get is one PBS channel and Netflix on a Roku. The weird thing is... I never really miss cable. I guess television WAS as bad as I thought it was!! ETA: I also went from a $110 per mo. cable/internet bill to $35 for my internet service. |
