I'm refinishing a very cheap (J.C. Higgins) 20 gauge. I have no idea why, but I am.
Is this stuff going to scratch when I lean it against a tree or use a tree as a shooting rest?

Look up 'Rust Blue' or 'Rust Bluing' if you want to go on the cheap. Supposed to be really great looking.

Yeh, after a few total re -blues on my old rem 70 I went with the brownells aluma hide and it hold up very well and looks very clean.
Birchwood Casey perma blue is freaking crap. Blue wears off in one week of deer hunting with just normal moisure.
