The 4-story compound in downtown Tripoli that was home to Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi was demolished by missile attacks, according to reporters near the area. There was no known injuries at it remains unclear where the leader has been living since the no-fly zone was ordered. |

Why on God's green earth would we expend so much $$$ and announce that we are coming? Why did'nt some brainchild figure out to not say anything..fly a mission dark at night with intel on where he is right at that moment in time, take him out without all this grandstanding and speeches? What is the objective of this "campaign"? A real President almost did this for much less money and much less public knowledge.  This is the stupidest thing I have ever witnessed happening...what if Ghadafy lives and still has enough money to pay people to fight for him the next few months? How many civilians will die and what if one of our planes our ships get shot...is this really worht all this attention? Really? Can we send SF or combat controllers, mark a target then fire in the hole? |

270 dead from that incident alone! The golden fist / airplane statue actually represents teh F-111 that was downed the last time we bombed them, back in teh 80's. Yeah, I do think it would be poetic justice for us to send a tomohawk in to take it out. Regarding the compound, the CNN reporter is saying it had some large holes through the roof...wonder if these were in fact missiles, or if they were laser guided bombs. I'll be the first to admitt I'm no expert, but most of the cruise missle strikes I've seen have either been coming in more low on the horizon and flown into the side of the building, or had the shapped charge blast down. Most of the guided bombs seems to come in morve vertical and punch nice round holes in the roofs of the buildings they've hit. |

For the U.S., the Muslim Brotherhood will be as bad or worse than Qaddafi when (not if) they take over. Evidently British Petroleum and Total think they will get better oil concessions from the MB than from Qaddafi. Hence the enthusiastic involvement of their governments. We should have stayed out of this one. We will also live to regret throwing Mubarak under the bus in Egypt. |

We don’t have to occupy Libya. We don’t have to rebuild their nation. We don’t have to do anything for them. Keep that in mind.
Quadaffy has been a major thorn in the side of the West for as long as I can remember. He sort of calmed down after Reagan bitch slapped him but we still owe him plenty. But as a practical matter you can’t go giving every little tinpot dictator what they truly deserve. However, when one of our long time enemies gets himself into a bad position, I think we ought to take the opportunity to get some long overdue revenge. So I say kill the fucker, kill his kids, kill his family, kill his friends, kill anyone that is anywhere near him, and kill his camels and livestock. Rain death down on them all and hope that he dies last so he can see the total destruction of everything he held dear. And when we are done we just need to leave. There’s no need to screw around with any of that nation building crap. Just send a note to the next asshole that manages to take over that shithole telling him that we will do the same to him if he fucks with the West in any way. We can be their friends and trading partners, or we can ignore them. That’s up to them. But if they start any crap then we start blowing shit up. |
