I love micro-USB, especially as a charging connector. It is so nice to be able to put a car charger in each vehicle and have it work for practically every phone. My mother-in-law has a Kindle and even that charges via micro-USB. Why did it take so long for a universal charging system to be adopted? |

Sony and Apple are the two biggest non-standards companies. Apple is a little better since they have their proprietary connector across most of their line. One thing I like about my Targus power adapter is that I can change tips, from micro-b, to mini-b, to icrap. |

Hmmm my iPhone doesn't use micro USB...neither does my Bluetooth, far from universal, wouldn't ya say? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I think the fact that we're down to a few, rather than the dozens that were in use just a few years ago, is fucking awesome. |

Just wait till the next one comes along.
USB 1.0 - Gone USB 2.0 - In Use USB 3.0 - Almost here, Might be here. USB 4.0 - ???? They all use the same connectors (USB and USB-mini), and they all use the same voltage. The only physical difference is that USB3 adds more data paths, but USB2 plugs and connectors are backward compatible. No reason to assume USB 4.0 will be significantly different, if USB 4.0 even occurs. There are competing standards emerging all the time! Edit: Oops, forgot about USB-B connectors. Almost completely relegated to printers now. Too big for use on small devices. |

I was pumped for the USB. I thought to myself "A Universal Serial Bus? Sweet. I like Universal things"
Then the mini-usb came out. I can see the utility. After all, a full USB cable wouldn't fit into my ps3 controller, bluetooth, etc. Then the microUSB came out. Okay, fine. I understand improvements. NanoUSB is going to piss me off. |

Depends on what sort of tiny electronic thing they're sticking them on. |
